Why does Katie Lee have a cooking segment on the CBS Early Show? As I watched her robotic television presence and listened to her monotone delivery while she created a “deconstructed tuna casserole” the other day, I wondered. (Seriously, a tuna casserole???)

But here she was — Katie Lee — separated wife of Billy Joel (33 years her senior) and former host of Bravo’s Top Chef — chopping onions with Harry Smith.  She wrote a couple of cookbooks. Plus, she will get some serious alimony from Billy Joel. She is 28 years old with little talent. But with some financial discipline, she will probably be set.

Her morning show segment lasted about 3 minutes. During which, I had a minor revelation: sometimes you really don’t have to be good at anything or try really hard. Sometimes, you just get lucky. Damn…
